Established in 2017, the Institute of Translation Studies has a research team made up of academics in translation at SFS. It aims to draw on their specializations, such as translation studies, comparative linguistics, corpus linguistics, and machine translation studies by holding on a regular basis top-notch events, such as seminars, lectures and symposiums that revolve around the practice and theory of translation and translation teaching. In this way, experiences and findings are shared, fresh thinking is cherished, new potential is unlocked, and research quality is ultimately enhanced. Its research is mainly focused on the sociology of translation, textual analysis in Translation, translation criticism, translation teaching material studies, financial translation studies, and cultural values in translations from Chinese into other languages.
